Its very clear from the moment we see Carol back on our screens in this excellent premiere episode, that she is going to be the star of the season. The sheer joy that her appearance brings is palpable. You cheer every time she uses her clever ways to get the upper hand in a situation, and you feel her sorrow in her more difficult moments. Melissa McBride is one of the most gifted actors in TWD world, and wow does she deliver another one of her knockout performances. You're left excited for what's to come for her this season, and very ready to go on this journey with her to look for Daryl in France. Also, this episode introduces one of the best new characters TWD has had in a long time in Ash! Loved him and Carol together, and I'm very excited to watch more from this duo! This really was a stellar first episode, and I can't wait for more from The Book of Carol!
Finally we see Carol and Daryl together again, being the powerful duo they always have been! I have been pretty unimpressed with season 11 as a whole. I found the Reapers storyline pointless and unnecessary, and the Commonwealth arch has been a disappointment as well. I feel like this episode set things back on track, even if it's so late in the season. There's a reason Carol and Daryl were given their own spinoff originally. Nobody has their chemistry or works better together than they do. Melissa McBride has been totally sidelined this season, which has been one of the biggest mistakes the show has made. It was so great to see Carol in this episode being the badass we all know and love. She owned the episode!
I really loved this episode! This was a great showcase for Carol. We dive into her state of mind here and see where she's at not only after her fight with Daryl, but after everything that she has been through recently. We see both Carol and Daryl trying to cope with the aftermath of the fight and what's clear is that they need each other and are better together.
I liked seeing the everyday tasks that they have to deal with in the apocalypse. I enjoyed the humor and the more lighthearted moments we got. Plus Carol and Dog were such a fun duo to watch! Great moments with them and with Carol and Jerry. Really solid episode, I would say it's my favorite of the bonus episodes.
