Imma be real here, this movie at first escaped my radar. Even though like many I love the stories of Robin Hood, I've seen all the different variations before this one, and I gotta say when people told me it was the worst of all of them I was kinda confused.
Now, in 2024, and it was on Netflix, I finally gave it a shot and checked it out, and I gotta admit I really enjoyed it. It definitely shed some light on more of the backstory of the character we all know, and even though it takes some liberties it doesn't overall change the THEME of the story, especially given that this movie is technically the ORIGIN of the character, when most of the other variations showcased him in his prime.
The action was really cool, acting and music was on point, and the way things play out makes sense.
Taron played the role well. He had the charisma, the energy. The guy behind the Sheriff was perfect to a T. I mean seriously, if we saw him in Rogue One we know he plays almost any villain role well. Everyone else had their role to play. I think my only gripe was that I wish I got to see more of Will to understand his side, but eh.
So, when I come here and find that people hated on this film, I was shocked. Seriously people, the movie was fine. What did you all expect? It's the same story, but told in a different light, and with how a lot of more mediocre remakes nowadays I'd take this one over a lot of them tenfold. It's not perfect, but no movie is, and this movie is not to be slept on.
