When I started watching, it was because I liked Dimension 20 (On dropout tv), and saw Brennan was guest hosting critical role. I was not expecting to shout in joy at parts, and I definitely was not expecting to weep at the last episode. Brennan had these very seasoned cast members crying their eyes out with sadness, happiness, and hope. The story was a masterpiece. The cast was amazing. The last thirty minutes are flawless and breathtaking. There are also so many laughs, bonding, and improvised dialogue that make you believe these are real friends and family. Even the amazing cast was weeping.
This is a fun, wholesome yet violent, good time. Likable characters and great fight scenes. I binged the first season in three days. The main character's whole goal is to make friends. He has to fight most of them first though, then protect them. The side characters are fun and have decent personalities. Little too much fan service, but hey it's anime.
I absolutely love the books. From the trailers, I was worried about the quality of this show. I am 6 episodes in and very pleasantly surprised at how good it is. The production value is high, and the actors are up to the task. This show obviously cannot perfectly adapt all 14 books, and has to make some changes. Some of the romantic changes are a bit baffling, but if you enjoy it as a new show and not an exact replica of the books, they are not jarring. Watch it for the show it is, not the show you imagined in your mind, and you will love it.
