Let me start by saying, I think the show ranks pretty high among children's science shows. The downside, however, is that some of the experiments aren't very practical or accessible to be redone or attempted by children of th suggested audience age range. And the show is so exciting and interesting that your kids will want to try it and be upset that you can't afford 500 gallons of corn syrup or toothpaste. One experiment in particular involved lighting a teabag on fire, so that it would float away and burn up. There's no mention that this is a very controlled experiment and that not all teabags are created equal. Five times at least now I've had to stop my son from wanting to light teabags on fire, and on the same day he saw the episode, we extracted some more thin paper from our toaster that he had stuffed in trying to recreate the experiment after not being able to recreate the one in the show. Do I blame the show? Not exactly, kids develop an interest in fire - but I think that episode in particular was pretty thoughtless about the fire experiment given the age range of the show.

With the multi-punch comedy timing of shows like Futurama, Simpsons, Family Guy and a lot of the Adult Swim fare, Dogs in Space feels almost a little too fast or complex for kids. But it does truly adhere to being rated Y7, even though just barely. There are a lot of hard sci-fi references and jokes about psychological or 'adult problems' for the parents that sometimes feel a little awkward or over the heads of the age intended- but nothing is actually offensive or inappropriate. There are a few scenes, situations and creatures that may be scary or gross for some kids, but there's not any (red) blood or anything more than cartoon violence.

Captain Garbage is a more likeable Zapp Brannigan, Captain Kirk, and Homer Simpson tolled up in dog form and Haley Joel Osment knocks it out of the lark. The crew are all likeable sci-fi stereotypes, although Ed, who is kind of like the Bender of the crew, is the most questionable character and possible bad influence for a Y7 series. As a rather one-note greedy looter/pickpocket/scoundrel with some other shady dealings, he feels a bit out of place in the crew and show.

Overall, for nerdy parents and their kids who already have some classic sci-fi under their belts, it's a really good series full of good jokes and references. If your kids haven't already seen any Star Trek, it could be a good introduction, and if they have, the viewing will be that much richer.

Didn't have any expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. If you like Fallout, Mad Max etc with a dash of Purge, you'll like this.

It's *very Fallout universe* minus any nuclear war. (But the catalyst is even scarier, more plausible) Pretty good world building and character acting, nice old music, some clever costuming and gang ideas. If I could think of a downside, it'd be that everyone the protagonists encounter is way more interesting or better written than they are -but that's kind of the point- they're an 'average couple'.

It's not over the top, the budget keeps it grounded. It doesn't stray too far into comedy or torture porn. It's it's own dystopian thriller even though it knows it's roots. Those don't sound like glowing recommendations but it's a solid, well done little apocalypse flick, and I could see more being done within the rules of its world.
