I think all the actors do the best they can with what they have. I think the visuals are absolutely stunning and were literally ahead of anyone else at the time, to include any physics simulations of black holes. The score is friggin awesome and largely makes what emotion happens in this movie work. It all is very, very well done, except one thing. The script that ties all this together is just the cheesiest, forced, bizarre, cliched, and autistic thing I've ever watched. The way every female behaves makes very little sense. The way most male characters behave makes very little sense. What I'm saying is across the board, Christopher Nolan just doesn't seem to understand people. There's just something off with how angry, irrational, petty, mean, and brooding all his characters are. I'm glad he made it and I do rewatch it now and then, but sometimes I will just turn the dialog way down and just turn it up when I know a good piece of the score is coming on, just so I don't expose myself to these things Christopher Nolan dreams up.
Like others say, Jean Smart is fantastic. I'll say that up front. The rest of the cast varies from kinda funny and enjoyable to mostly just 1-dimensional and incredibly annoying.
The first season is actually very funny. It had a joke every episode that had me doubled over laughing, sometimes several bits. The first season is by far the edgiest and closest to actual comedy writing. After that, it just nose dives.
Season 2 is kinda fine, but mostly the show starts down a path of being more of a drama in that season and the jokes take begin to take a back seat. Then we get some lazy and distorted moralizing at parts, and it closes ok.
Season 3 I began to actually not like the show. I'd actually feel a bit of depression at the end of the episodes. It goes full in on just being a drama, so no laughs and any you're given are always in a moral context (laugh if you're a good person here because you get the joke wink wink, nod nod). Except, that's not funny. That's just work. It doesn't get much better and by the end the end of that season the show has really destroyed everything it built. To include any compassion or empathy I felt for the 2 main characters.
Then season 4 starts and it somehow is even worse. The characters are utterly irredeemable at this point in the show. I actually hate these characters. By season 4 it has devolved into nothing but a cat fight, and this is supposed to be progressive? This show wants to lecture me on sexism and racism, then churn out 2 seasons of "look at this crazy old lady!" Type comedy? I just hate it. They had such a good thing and just drove it into the ground then got out with shovels and kept digging. It's bizarre the praise this show gets given these last 2 seasons amount to a gigantic cat fight. 2 seasons of women being petty to eachother. I've seen that hundreds if not thousands of times in my life from the media, and this show is ultimately no different.

I wish I could take a previous review for a Jurassic park clone and insert it here to get across the effort the studio is putting into these now. It's just a cheap cash in for some money. Very boring and predictable. The CGI actually looked worse than the 1993 movie. How is that even possible you ask? By just having gratuitous CGI constantly. It just looks bad and I'm actually depressed after watching this. Something about it all just felt cynical and like it somehow ruined my love of the original a little bit. With that said, this is the last ride for me on this franchise. It hasn't been good for decades as I look back and think about these films.
