This episode tries to build character, but just ends up as a fetch quest where two inconsistent characters bond. It's formulaic, boring, and absolutely unnecessary, but it gets a tiny bit of grace for it's okay story telling.
This episode gives us a decent distraction from anything of note. The gang tries to steal weapons but ends up with a moral predicament about whether the weapons should be sold and the morality of the weapons in general. This centers around Zeb, who is too one dimensional to make the conflict work for me. Overall, it's an okay episode, but it's a distraction for a specific reason, which you'll see if you watch the episode.
Star Wars Rebels' First Season is really bad at times, but this episode shows what the show is trying to do, establish a nice dynamic between a group of characters that aren't always likable, but are always *trying* to do better for the galaxy. It's not a perfect pilot, but it's not a terrible one either, by any stretch of the imagination.
