The cast did an incredible job, and the script was wonderful- remember, it *was* described as a rom-com- and the humor is well timed and laugh-out-loud type.
The soundtrack fits incredibly, the relationships are well plotted- there's absolutely nothing wrong with this show.
And yes, the pirates don't necessarily fit their historically accurate ages or personas, but. It's loosely based on history. Loosely.

First off, it has a solid plot, and a good soundtrack, two things very important for MCU movies.
Second, it has a likeable character (at least in my opinion) played by a good actress. Samuel L Jackson does an incredible job as well, and his and Brie Larson's interactions really sell the movie.
It's definitely a good female led movie, regardless of other reviews, and they did a good job adapting the comics to the story they were portraying on screen.
As a comics fan, I think they did an amazing job.
