Perfect example of why you should never solely listen to critics who will always have an overriding agenda first and foremost to their reviews. This movie is NOT 'a copy of the Matrix' as many critics have said. It's not even close to the same premise. In fact, Equilbirum has a far more realistic future prospective than the Matrix. An autocratic society where Ai everything has taken over and art, feelings, pets etc. Have been banned. Hmm, we are starting to see that already! I also read a few critics that didn't love the fighting style but personally I thought it was fun if not completely realistic. Nobody saw this movie because many critics panned it, but it's garnered cult status because it's actually awesome.
Ya, I said it. I'm not sure there is a film that made me laugh more or louder and it's because it's not slapstick but has actual meaning in wrecking the celebrity, Hollywood culture that he was a part of. Robert Downey Jr. Should have won an Oscar for his performance and several other actors you could consider this their best performance ever including Tom Cruise who is insanely hilarious in his Les Grossman role. I still wish they did a sequel with just him to this day. Jack Black is also wild. I'll be honest, if you rated this film a 7 or below, we probably aren't ever going to be friends in real life.
I'm truly glad this didn't win Best Picture. I mean the cinemotograhy of the structure and Adrien are wonderful, but it seems to not know how to end, and just culminates into 'Americans are horrible people', though many they met were not actually American born and were immigrants like his friend that took him in. I'm just not sure the purpose of the film other than to highlight the struggle of post - WW2 immigrants and the beauty of minimalism archietecture. This movie is just filled with horrible people outside his wife and Gordon. I mean Laszlo is awful as well considering he's into hookers, drugs, temper tantrums and an overinflated ego. Again, I just ask, what was the message of this movie? Lol.
