While the main actor - the son - did a great job, the movie somehow lacked something. It was a good idea and adequately executed, but it was slow. There was some bad acting by some of the characters (mother and detective), and some of the dialogue was a bit cringe-worthy. Some parts didn't make sense and there were a couple of plot points that were a bit too convenient. Also, while I understand why some of the spookier aspects of the film were included, sometimes they didn't really work and bordered on being cheesy.
It's not a bad movie, especially for an obviously low budget, but if you have any other options, choose them first.

I knew nothing about this little gem before watching it and was very pleasantly surprised. I thought the performances were amazing, especially Harry Styles. I knew he was a member of One Direction and has had success as a solo artist, but I didn't know he was into acting. However, I thought he did brilliantly in this film. In fact, I loved the whole thing.
The ending did bring a tear to the eye, not just because of the climax of the story, but because it made me realise that there must have been hundreds of similarly tragic stories of love given the ultra conservative times (caused by religious intolerance and oppression). And how many wives had to go through this because gay men weren't allowed to be themselves. To paraphrase a line in the movie says: Nobody wins.

Had high hopes for this show, but it soon turned out to be derivative - another Falling Skies / Walking Dead / The Girl With the Gifts / any zombie movie ever. On top of that there is the entirely unlikable character played by Bella Ramsey. Ugh. Foul-mouthed, irritating and with no obvious redeeming features. I kept wanting her to get.eaten.
Are writers really that bereft of ideas? I realise a lot of people enjoy the series and that's great for them, but some of just like a bit of originality.
Having said that, the acting is solid and the main cast did a good job - if you discount the insufferable Bella Ramsey character.
I don't think I have ever given such a low score, but I call it as I see it.
