By this point, I groan every time Diane appears on screen. This episode is entirely skippable: Diane as its central character. She's intolerable: selfish, narrow, and self-righteous. She's basically a pure-cringe conduit for those naive and sententious Leftist sermons that most of us outgrew by sophomore year.
She has become a black hole for this show. She sucks out the life and tanks whatever narrative momentum one feels building among the other characters. Also, while the other characters are genuinely aware of their flaws, it feels like Diane only gives lip-service to self-awareness and self-deprecation. Her character doesn't seem to really believe that she's flawed. She seems to think that she's kind of awesome. Because of this, BoJack must answer to her, recount every mistake to her, etc., simply because she is somehow owed as much.
It's a Diane episode. Do yourself a favor and skip it.

This is a sermon, not a comedy special. The only interesting thing about this is the question it provokes: who told her she is funny? Clearly, she tells everyone that she is hilarious...often. But, really, who is enabling this poor woman's delusions and inflicting the world with her banal, lifeless attempt at humor? Why would they let her do that to herself?
Although she offers nothing humorous in this entire special, HG makes sure to do one thing: preach. She wants us to know that she's funny and right and good and that anyone who doesn't agree with her or who thinks she's a talentless hack must be bad. The hubris is just off the charts. Avoid this special.

As a show on its on terms: the writing and acting are pretty bad. The flat dialogue, poor narrative choices, and lackluster music leads one to wonder what Amazon has been spending all this time and money on. Why is Galadriel such a terrible character to watch in dialogue and, at the same time, a ninja? It feels like I'm watching some low rent WB action fantasy...not the most anticipated and high budget show of the year.
As something marketed as "Tokien": Nothing in this story, aside from the names and a few other items, has any real footing in anything written by JRR Tolkien. It seems that they want to use his name to sell their product but jettison his work in favor of a reckless and banal mess of their own making. This is simply not Tokien, not LOTR.
