This is my 2nd favorite movie of 2021.
My God, this year is stacked.
The animation isn't just gorgeous, but this might be the most cinematic-looking anime movie I have ever seen.
Some of the shots made me splooge in my pants.
The best part is that you don't need to be extremely analytical watching it, and don't need to understand everything that is going on.
In fact, that's what I love about it.
I think that a majority of casual enjoyers and critical analyst alike will enjoy this.
It provides extremely satisfying and cathartic closure to things that matter and lets the other stuff be up to your imagination.
Basic things like the characters and their developments aren't up to interpretation and have actual definable arcs unlike in the anime series where I was slightly confused about their psyche and psychology.
I love how it handled the characters, especially how it handled Shinji, his dad, Rei Ayanami, Gendoh, and Misato.
Another thing I like is that you don't need to feel nostalgic about the series to improve it.
I am proof of that since I didn't watch the other Eva stuff years ago and was fairly new to Evangelion, having finished the original anime, the Rebuild movies, and this in just 4 days.
However, I won't deny knowing beforehand the original series while watching the Rebuild movies and this will increase the catharsis, but I don't think that the Rebuild movies and this aren't dependent on your knowledge of the original anime series; although, it was neat seeing how Anno changed some scenes from the original into something better in the Rebuild movies like the "Elevator Scene" being a notable example.
Not my favorite among the Rebuild movie collection (that would be 2.0), but it's an extremely satisfying conclusion.

Finally, a movie from my country that's in the same tier as "Parasite", "The Godfather", and all the other masterfully crafted movies out there.

You know when you watch something as a kid, and then revisit it as an adult, your feelings about it change, most of the change being negative (like going to seeing "Shark Boy & Lava Girl").
Well, this ain't it.
Revisiting it made me love it EVEN MORE.
I noticed all the great details and stuff.
The plot twists are amazing.
Even ignoring the plot and cool details, there's also the great characters and emotion.
It isn't just a heartless plot, it has great emotion.
Dipper is a great protagonist, and it was so emotionally powerful to see him develop.
My favorite moments are with him.
Bill Cypher is a fantastic antagonist.
Unlike most other villains for kid stuff, Bill Cypher genuinely feels unbeatable.
I like that it adds a layer of panic and dread, like Omni Man from Invincible, because, like, how the frick are we supposed to beat this Eldritch God?
Well, this ain't it.
Revisiting it made me love it EVEN MORE.
