As a long-time Marvel fan-and someone who was never really into Superman-I didn't go into this movie with high expectations. Most of the previous Superman films never quite did it for me. But wow, was I wrong.
James Gunn absolutely nailed it. He brought the comic book version of Superman to life in a way that finally felt true to the character. For the first time, I actually liked Superman. He was kind, heroic, and even saved a squirrel-meanwhile, Henry Cavill's Superman let an entire courtroom blow up around him.
The casting was spot-on, and the chemistry between Lois and Superman felt natural and heartfelt. Lex was terrifyingly good-a perfect billionaire villain with just the right mix of charm and menace. And Mr. Terrific? I didn't even know who he was before this movie, and now he's one of my favorite characters. He absolutely stole every scene he was in.
The movie's core message-to be kind to everyone-was delivered beautifully without feeling cheesy or forced.
If you're on the fence about watching this, trust me: you totally should. Even as someone who was never a Superman fan, I walked away loving it.
