The film stumbles in its execution of action. While the core choreography is sound, the fight scenes feel oddly uninspired, lacking the raw, visceral energy that the premise promises. The editing in these sequences is often too quick, making it hard to appreciate the skills on display. It's a shame that a film so strong in its visuals and story couldn't quite land the punch where it mattered most, leaving the action feeling disappointingly flat.
Didn't think I'd be so chilled out after watching Echoes of Miao, but here we are. This documentary feels less like a film and more like a quiet afternoon in a village you've never been to. The sound design is honestly incredible. Every little thing from footsteps on stone to wind passing through leaves feels like it was recorded just for you.
The lusheng music was a highlight for me. I've never heard that kind of instrument before, and it gave the whole piece a kind of timeless, almost meditative quality. I wish there was a full soundtrack available somewhere because I'd totally listen to it while studying.
Only thing is, I wish it had maybe one or two short interviews, just to hear a villager's voice talking about what these sounds mean to them. But it's still a beautiful, peaceful watch and makes you appreciate the small things in life.

Wasn't sure what to expect from Red & Green Shadows, but it totally pulled me in. The film's strongest point is its color work. I mean, those deep reds practically glow on screen, and the greens make you feel like you can almost smell fresh leaves. It's very sensory in a way I didn't expect.🔥
The interplay of light and shadow is done so well that sometimes it feels like a painting moving on screen. The emotional depth it conveys without words is impressive.
That said, it might not be for everyone. If you're not into abstract visuals or artsy stuff, you might find it a little slow. But for me, it was a peaceful, beautiful 10-minute escape from everyday noise.🌿🌿
