  • Spotty dialogue

In some instances, the dialogue is entertaining, with clever quips and moments of wit that land well. However, there are times when it feels like the script is so poorly written that not even the most seasoned actors can salvage it. Some scenes are cringeworthy, and it's clear that the dialogue doesn't serve the characters or the plot effectively. That being said, the cast does their best, and in certain moments, they manage to elevate the material despite the weak lines.

The standout performance, without a doubt, is Maggie. Her presence on screen is undeniable, and she really helps anchor the show, pulling the cast together. Her character feels grounded and compelling, and it's clear that her portrayal has more depth than the script may give her credit for. She certainly brings a sense of heart and authenticity to a show that occasionally struggles to find its footing.

Despite the questionable dialogue, the premise itself is strong, offering a fresh take on the crime genre. The storyline keeps you intrigued, and there's a solid foundation for the show to grow. The pacing and character development, while a bit uneven at times, are ultimately enough to keep you invested in the long run.

Ultimately, despite the script's flaws, the show has potential. It will probably become my new crime series, mostly thanks to the compelling premise and Maggie's stellar performance. With a bit more polish in the writing department, this could easily evolve into one of the top shows in the genre.

  • Push through the voice acting 🙏🏽

Lazarus is one of those anime that doesn't quite hit it out of the park, but it certainly has enough to keep you interested, especially if you're willing to push through its weaker moments. The premise itself is intriguing and rich with potential, set in a dystopian future where the lines between humanity and technology blur in fascinating ways. It's a world where life is far from ordinary, and the concept of resurrecting the dead with advanced technology immediately grabs your attention.

The animation in Lazarus is nothing short of stunning. The fluidity of the action scenes, combined with the intricate designs of the futuristic world, creates a visually immersive experience. The attention to detail is impressive, and the use of lighting and color throughout really enhances the atmosphere, making every scene feel dynamic and full of life-even when the story takes a darker turn.

However, where the anime stumbles is in its voice acting. For some reason, the performances feel largely flat and unconvincing, which is a bit of a shame given the high-quality visuals. The characters, especially the main ones, should have felt more alive, but the voice acting doesn't always match the intensity or depth of the moments they're supposed to convey. It's not that the actors are necessarily bad, but rather that the voice direction seems off, leading to performances that don't quite land emotionally.

Another element that weighs the show down is the script. While the premise is solid, the dialogue often feels forced and sometimes awkward, which doesn't do justice to the more intense or emotional moments. Some of the character interactions and plot beats could have been stronger with sharper writing. That being said, it's not all bad-there are still moments where the dialogue hits the mark and adds depth to the characters, but they're few and far between.

Despite these issues, Lazarus is far from a lost cause. If you can push past the occasional cringy line or lackluster voice acting, you'll find an anime that's quite enjoyable overall. The world-building, animation, and soundtrack are top-tier, and the story has enough of an interesting hook to keep you invested. It's a series that benefits from patience, and while it may not be a masterpiece, it certainly offers a unique experience worth sticking with.

So, if you're a fan of futuristic dystopias with gorgeous visuals and a great score, give it a shot. Just be ready to endure some rough patches with the voice acting and dialogue, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a surprisingly decent anime overall.
