Live action remakes are hard to nail to say the least.
Not all live actions are good, but how to train your dragon live action is a decent remake of the original. It is a one-to-one copy of the original animation that includes extended cuts along with a few changes in the story. These changes didn't affect much of how the story goes, just small details to keep in mind.
The CGI is well done, though it had its drops in scenes that looked unnatural due to bad green screen. Its pacing was slowed down compared to the original. Then the casts, they portrayed the characters accurately for me.
It is nice to see the movie reimagined into live action, bringing you nostalgia and the feeling you felt back when you first watched it.
So overall, it is a faithful remake of the original and I loved it.
