Was this a perfect movie? No. But was it perfect? Yes. This is my favorite movie of the year that hasn't made me cry. Nonetheless, it gave me chills multiple times. It was quite compelling, even with instilled drama. I thought Kerry Condon and Damson Idris were really good, as well as Javier Bardem. It was very well done, overall. The racing scenes were great, the shots were awesome, and the needle drops were great, so was Hans Zimmer's score. All in all, this was everything you could ask from a movie. It wasn't too long or too short. Tbh, I could have watched it for another thirty minutes. I wouldn't have minded spending more time in that world. Don't get me wrong, there are parts of the story that were underdeveloped, but it wasn't exactly consequential to the plot. This was one for IMAX, and I'm terribly saddened that I didn't see it in that format. Well worth the price of admission. Highly recommend. One way or another, it's a must watch. Be sure to have a great sound system if you're going to watch this at home.
Is this the best mission impossible movie? No. Is it the worst mission impossible movie? Also, no. This movie is incredibl...ly unhinged, almost to the point that it's incoherent, but it might only be because of its ambition and aim. Personally, I appreciate that, and it's appropriate for mission impossible to conclude with its most outrageous attempt yet, but they definitely didn't land the plane on this one, literally and figuratively. Ethan Hunt is the world that we, in the real world, need and tom cruise brought him to the big screen, perhaps for the last time, and I'm glad that I went and saw it on the big screen. While it was lengthy, it was fun at times, emotional at others, but I won't say this is a good movie regardless of how badly I wanna like it. If you like mission impossible, go to the theatre and watch this. I think you'll enjoy yourself.
I'm sorry but this movie is incredibly underwhelming. In fact, being a part of the 28 days franchise is to its detriment. The intensity of the preceding movies is kind of what made them great. The stakes of those movies felt very high. They having you jumping, clenching your fists and hoping things turn out okay in dire circumstances. This movie has none of that. This movie might be about motherhood, manhood, and a boy's place in the world, and to itself, it highlights those themes very well, but it didn't make me feel anything. At no point was I invested or concerned about the characters or what would happen, and I don't know if that's alright. It just didn't hit. It wasn't all that compelling. To think this is what we waited for, I left feeling less than I walked into the theatre, incredibly disappointing.
