Ok, first of all, Anatomie 2 is better in almost every way than the original "Anatomie".

The characters are more likable (to a point) and the film moves along at a much faster pace than part 1.

That being said, these couple of positives are not enough to save the film from still being boring and extremely predictable.

As with part 1 it is plainly obvious that this is drawing heavily from classic medical thrillers such as Flatliners or Dead Ringers.

The problem is, it just doesn't deliver the goods like the previously mentioned films.

Honestly, what could have saved this film and pushed it into greatness would have been the casting of someone like Udo Kier as the lead doctor/researcher. Instead, we got a rather melodramatic and uncharismatic replacement.

There is little to no effects work to speak of and what is there is basic and unimpressive.

The whole romance story arc feels tacked on and unnecessary and the interpersonal relationship between the two brothers feels forced and fake.

I can recommend this film as a one time viewing to waste time or to complete the story started in part 1 but other than that if you miss it or choose to pass it up it's no big loss.

I remember watching this film in 2000 and thinking how brilliant and fresh it was.

Throughout the years, every time I saw the poster, or saw it on a streaming service I had that nostalgic feeling and memory. But I never went back to the film....

Until now.

And..... It's not anywhere near as good as I remembered.

In fact, this film is rather dull and pointless. The whole mystery of the secret society interwoven with lover's quarrels and jealousy just misses the mark.

The only genuinely likable character, David, is killed off and cast aside almost immediately which really is a disappointment as the other characters are unemotional, apathetic robots delivering lines because they were told to.

You can clearly see the influence from other great medical thrillers such as Flatliners and Dead Ringers but these influences are superficial only and never really serve to get the film to an exciting or entertaining point.

Having extremely gifted medical students act apathetic and cold is common and familiar but there's a way to do it without creating robots. Flatliners mastered the technique and honestly nobody has done it better since (at least as far as medical thrillers go).

The effects are brilliant but so sparse and underutilized that you forget about them pretty easily.

The film is worth watching one time but I don't see this as being a prized collection piece worthy of repeated viewings.

People dislike Uwe Boll.

People will find any reason to bash a Uwe Boll film simply because his name is involved.

People simply hate on Uwe Boll because it has become the "trendy" thing to do.

You don't have to like someone as a person or agree with them politically, religiously, etc...to admit they have talent. There are many Hollywood personalities with dark or checkered pasts and we still enjoy their work.

So let's stop the trend and get honest.

Postal is a comical satire that dares to expose the ugly side to many facets of modern society.

It is funny, offensive, violent, over the top, and completely unnecessary in every way...and that is what makes it so great.

The message in this film isn't much different from more serious titles such as Falling Down, Rampage (2009) and its two brilliant sequels, Death Wish, etc. The main difference here is that Postal delivers that message with unfiltered and offensive humor and an over the top bizarro level of violence that makes you laugh in spite of its graphic brutality.

This film is so underappreciated and underrated that it truly is sad.

I would recommend this film to anyone and I urge you all to look past the trends and unwarranted ridicule and give Uwe Boll a chance. Yes there are some real let downs but I promise you there's some real gems too.
