Jame McAvoy makes the movie horror and dramatic. He solely makes the movie what it meant to do. The rest of the characters unfortunately are not convincing, telling, nor selling.

This American rendition brings out more cringe moments from dull characters that make your eyes roll but James McAvoy locks your eyes in. He just pushes you around with his gaze to feel the horror they tried to inject. He is the only wild beast let free here. But even that beast can't redeem this movie on its own.

When there is too much drag by the rest of the bland characters, the movie just falls short of its aim. The prey is too pathetic for the predator. There is simply more disagreement and inertia than momentum unfortunately on this one.

Not enough charisma? Not enough character development? Not enough build up? Just not enough all throughout.

Maybe the anticipation kills but we all knew that. I'm sure the filmmakers had the time and resources to factor in the legacy that is the Gladiator and the task at hand.

They cannot possibly have thought that the main character could carry the weight in his shoulders. The audience is simply not sold by anything. Make us want to root for him. Make us adore him and celebrate him. Make him a real gladiator, not a fabricated successor to fill a role.

They missed both the Gladiator and the legacy unfortunately. No hero was born in Gladiator II. 5/10 for inflation.

Just let Statham do his thing. Dont stand in front of him or bring him down. We all knew he was the constant.

There were too many poor variables in the movie. The supporting roles are unconvincing and disagreeable, if not simply cheap quality acting. I almost want to give the benefit of the doubt that the screenplay and other factors were made poor to make Statham stand out, but it just chiseled away from the carry that is Statham.

We all know the plot of anything Statham is in and I did not think a movie can distract him. The only thing that stumbled Statham in the movie was the movie itself.
