I have to say I'm very happy with this 4th episode, while I do admit that they added quite a bit of scenes that I cant exactly remember from the novel, they still kept it fully true to the world building and plot.
Really happy with how they are animating the more gruesome scenes and transformations, good to know that they're doing the body horror elements in LOTM justice.
I wish we got to see more of Klein acting as a seer, but I'm assuming that'll come in later episodes.
Overall, I'd say that the trajectory of this episode, compared to the previous ones, really gets my hopes up for the rest of the series.
Great visuals, great storytelling, only superficial gripe would be the lack of side character development as of yet.

Genuinely the most consistently beautiful animation I've ever seen in any anime/ animated work in my life.
While the first two episodes of the anime are more fast paced, it slows down for the 3rd and even more for the 4th episode, making the pace at this point pretty nice.
It nearly matches the pace of the novel in the 4th episode, but with some lampooning and more trivial conversations (as well as city traversal), cut out to make space for more plot relevant events.
Of course I would say that sometimes the translation hurts it as the dialogue obviously was not designed around English, so some of the sentences syntactically and vocabulary wise just make what's occurring on screen unclear for viewers, unless you have someone re interpreting the sentences who's read the novel.
Of course, from what I can tell, this issue shouldn't stick around once any of the dubs are released, so it doesn't affect my score.
Aside from the visuals, the story telling (while less subtle and mysterious than the novel in all fairness), still does a great job of keeping the viewer on their toes and bringing that air of mystery to the world and the power building system, I'd say increasingly so in the 4th episode, where some of the more gruesome scenes are shown.
If you are an experienced anime/ donghua viewer, or if you simply appreciate a complex, lore rich story, with breathtaking visuals, then this is definitely going to be in your top 5 forever.
