Maybe it was obvious to everyone else, But I went full harebrained detective on this movie, finding the references in each scene. It took me until an hour and four minutes to pause, restart, and watch again with a new "Lense".
On top of the two already fun and overlapping story arcs of the classic cabin horror movie tropes, they weave in so many shot for shot nods to a nearly unlimited list of contemporary TV shows. I saw Arrested Development, always sunny, 30 rock, Silicon Valley, veep, genuinely all my favorite shows, you could pick a scene and decide which actor was doing the lines in an impression of the character from that show. It brings a whole new meaning to the name found footage.
If you ever feel yourself, thinking you understand what the director is doing in a movie and then or letdown by no delivery, this movie delivers so many themes and references to Chase that you will rewatch it two times in one sitting.
I have so much more to say and so many more notes about this movie that I could make a shot for a shot breakdown of the movie. This was so much fun, you can tell it was an intentional labor of love by a lot of lovers a film, I highly recommend.
