It obviously starts out a little rough around the edges, given Cary and Michael were only 11 when they started posting BFDI... but anybody should be able to look past that. What they made back then STILL HOLDS UP, but isn't a meter for the level of quality the rest of the show has, because the QUALITY BUILDS.
(I feel like I need to address that first, because some people have gone out of their way to say BFDI is only for kids, while others say that BFDI is wholly inappropriate???? It's a passion project they started as kids, so obviously the start WILL BE CHILDISH, but the show is made for everyone, children and adults alike. Gosh.)
Since the different seasons are similarly named, a watch order for convenience: BFDI (full season) BFDIA 1-5c IDFB 1 (still in hiatus) BFB (full season) TPOT (whole of the season, currently releasing) BFDIA (rest of the season, currently releasing) IDFB (yet to release)
BFDI is a true gem. It's the only show I've ever watched that perfectly balances silly with serious. Lots of slapstick comedy, plenty of heartfelt moments, and characters that actually get you to care about them.
There are plenty of characters to root for AND jeer at. Every character has its lovers and its haters, which is just a testament to how unbelievably amazing this show is. You wouldn't really expect that from a show that is technically just "fictional characters compete for a prize", but BFDI is influential for a reason. It may have not hit the mainstream, but it was big enough to kickstart an entire genre of web-series, which says a lot.
With a main cast of 21 in Season 1, 22 in Season 2, and a massive cast of 70+ characters from Season 4 onwards, it's mind-boggling how well the show is written for each character to have its own group of fans. The scale for the show has only been getting bigger, and it's an absolute treat.
As of writing this, July 2025, episodes are releasing every month, and occasionally, sooner - not every episode is competition based, and there are actually non-competition episodes that let some characters really shine.
Lastly, the hook that made a lot of people fall in love with the show in the beginning... it's interactive. Since the show is published on YouTube, viewers get to decide who gets to leave or stay. Every episode. Even if it's a non-competition episode, viewers get to vote on other things, like on who should host while the host is away, or on an eliminated contestant to rejoin the game... that's why it connected with so many people. BFDI is a journey, and I'm so glad that it exists. 10/10.

I've been careful to remove spoilers here, but...
Is there anything more to say? Everything in the entire show has been building up to this point, this is the first time there's been a looming threat in BFDI and unlike you'd expect from a normally comic-relief slapstick show, the threat is ACTUALLY THREATENING to a HORRIFYING DEGREE.
Without specifying, Liy finally shows why she joined Death PACT, we finally learn what happened to Gaty and why Two has been bed-rotting for months over it, we watch someone lose EVERYONE IN THEIR LIFE, and we see someone, having finally triumphed, left in a vulnerable position, as they give in to the big threat... you actually couldn't ask for anything more. You genuinely couldn't. Everyone is accounted for, and everyone is GENUINELY AT ROCK BOTTOM.
Intro started like any other episode, but the ending was horrifying.
Overall... gosh, how could you do this to us, Jacknjellify? Perfect episode. 10/10.
