It's not often that I genuinely give a movie a 10 out of 10. But here's why this film is absolutely worth it to me.
The Batman, is one of the darkest comic book movies in our time. It's no secret this film takes a much more Gothic approach to Batman, other characters and Gotham in general. And I was actually expecting this be a much needed approach. Word of mouth around this film has been VERY positive and that is why it irks me that the general audience still rates it anywhere below a nine or even an eight. This movie is very good. It might well be the best comic book movie I've ever seen in my life and I have seen alot of them.
Bruce is more of an emo, but that does not take from his competence and his emotional reaction to certain events. I genuinely love they made such a character of someone who, by their attitude, you'd expect to have no trace of character at all. I find his story arc absolutely incredible, going from being an intimidating nightmare for criminals, to realizing he needs to be more then just a scarecrow for anarchists and also be a beacon of hope for the people of Gotham. The supporting cast is also really well written. This movie will not hesitate to shock you when it needs to and it feels good. And of course Batman gets plenty of cool moments that comic book fans can geek out over. Speaking of, the score for this film is fantastic. Batman is this much more imposing character in the film and his theme perfectly represents the feeling a criminal gets just from being aware of his presence. I also absolutely loved the fight choreography for this film. Even when most of the fights are fairly short and brisk, the filmmakers still put so much attention into them, making up for their short runtimes.
Speaking of runtimes, we should really be more accepting of films that are like this one, longer then the average PG-13 film. The length, to me, was just right for a movie of this caliber, and it does not waste a single second in my opinion. I cannot point at anything here and call it filler. The movie's take on The Riddler is very convincing and the mysteries are very clever and fun to see unfold. I've always had a thing for detectives in book form equally so in film and it might seem strange to mix a genre like this with a comic book character like Batman, but considering the adversary he's dealing with, it makes all the sense to me. On top of that they also just really handled it well.
Overall, the Batman is one of the best experiences I've had with comic book movies and also just film in general. It's a must see for any open-minded comic book fan that's also interested in the more mystery/detective take on the character. Ten stars, no doubt about it.

Although many would disagree I truly love this movie more then Transformers One, despite that being a much better Transformers movie. Transformers (2007) is not really what you'd expect out of a movie based on a Hasbro toy line, rather it's a re-imagining of what Transformers would look like if it was a bombastic action flick. And it succeeds tremendously well. Micheal Bay truly shines as a director in this film. The way every action scene is shot is absolute perfection. The Sound design and CGI are absolute perfection. The acting is absolute perfection. I have seen this film many times and even then, the last time I saw it, it made me absolutely geek out in every action scene. No the story isn't that complicated and rather simple, but still solid. And yes, sometimes the lines and jokes can be a bit... Micheal Bay, if you get me, but unlike sequel it's not that much of an issue here that it gets seriously annoying. Overall if you want to watch a film that will make you grin a meter wide at every cool thing that happens on your screen, this is for you.
From the biggest to the tiniest details of the film, you can see that absolutely no one wanted to make this film. Bay was kept on a chain by Hasbro and Paramount to continue making these films after Dark of the Moon and keep the money rolling. So he eventually bent and made Age of Extinction. It's no secret the fourth entry in the Bay Transformers films was by far the weakest. But it was far from the complete disaster that was The Last Knight. And I think it was intentional. The only way Micheal Bay would be able to escape from the franchise is by burning it to the ground. And he succeeded spectacularly. This movie is among the worst 2 hours and 34 minutes of action cinema ever. The film breaks the franchise's lore in ways never seen before in the movies. Some characters in the story are completely wasted and there's alot of logical issues with some of the actions characters take. It often feels like the creators straight up tried to sabotage the film by doing things such as creating unconvincing props, the awful switching of the screen ratio between cuts and even, and this is the best one, reusing a scene from Revenge of the Fallen and not even bothering to edit out Megatron from that movie. Don't bother watching this film. Just watch the first through third film and stop there. It works fine enough as an end to the story. Micheal Bay is not a bad director. But when he doesn't want to make a film, you can count on it that he will do everything to make it appearant.
