  • Stick with the talk show

How did this thing get broadcast? I couldn't finish it!

Mr. Colbert would be wise to stick with what he does best - his late night talk show. I miss it when it is not on but when he tries an alternative platform of comedy it usually falls flat. It's the same for that cartoon thing (which I cannot recall at this moment).

No laughs, and cast of mostly completely unknowns in show business! Who is John Michael Higgins? Never heard nor seen him before. And who is Kelly Rowland! Mystery people.

I hope the charity made some cash. And I've never heard of it either.

    Am I in a bubble? I think not ...

  • The grass is greener over there

But the grass is never greener!

This is a story with a simple philosophical tale about a young woman who - since childhood - wanted to be old. Because she thought older people 'had it all together'. Then unexpectedly she finds herself an elderly woman. Only to discover what she always wanted was not as she imagined. That grass isn't as green as she expected. Then her task, her desire, is to be her young self again!

This movie is not a great cinema achievement but it is an entertaining hour and a half of watching. Diane Keaton is her natural entertaining self and is charming as Aunt Rita!

    A delightful and entertaining flick!!

  • A two message movie wrapped in a romance

Writers Billy Eichner and Nicholas Stoller have brought to us two more than needed messages made crystal clear through a romance between two ordinary guys. Director Nicholas keeps it really above board and this movie does not deserve the 'R' rating because there is no full nudity.

Message one - is more evident to the viewer through Bobby's vocalization about how history and society has punished, silenced, banished, and stigmatized love between two men. Thus the LGBTQ+ museum objective to let the world see.

Message two - is less evident because it's between the gay men themselves and how they treat one another (shown clearly with the dance and group parties) and between Bobby & Aaron. Their relationships are often brief and self serving which trivializes the LGBT community.

So Eichner and Nicholas have brought the two messages together in one light hearted well acted romance story. I find no fault with this movie outside being a bit too long.

  • More fun than funny

Spent this rainy weekend watching both Hocus Pocus 1 and Hocus Pocus 2.

In my opinion HP 2 has greater enjoyment and entertaining value to it than HP 1.

HP 1 seemed labored, forced, and a bit confusing and directionless. Outside of the three witches not one characters/actors seemed to have any life. They said their lines and that was it.

HP 2 takes off right from the beginning and keeps your attention right to the end. Everyone has great spirit and the witches are truly 'in character' far more than HP 1. My favorite scene was the Walgreen store and the alternate brooms! This movie is fun with giggles.

Anyone expecting great laughter is missing the point of the movie.

  • Never really gets there

Boy and girl grow up as neighbors and best friends in NYC apartment building. Her straight, he gay. But she and he love each other. They grow up and slowly drift apart due to her jealously.

He seems more mature than her. But both live a fantasy friendship and their adult mentality has little room for this game. She comes from a broken family and he doesn't. The scenes with parents (to me) added nothing to this flick.

Half way through this flick you stop believing the characters are real and a lot of minutes are chewed up with music, singing, and dancing in hot NYC bars and disco's. Boring !!

  • Very nice romance flick

A fine movie about one guy looking for love and his best friend trying to help him. And they both get burned emotionally in the process.

Yes - the ending is happy! The actors are young and good looking. This is a good simple light romance story that brings love on all levels to an even surface. The acting is honest and clean. And this story actually has the characters going to work to earn a living in New York City! Makes the story more believable and and no extreme characters. Just plain everyday people !!!

As for the fake boyfriend - well it's never really seen - just talked about.

    Enjoy!

  • You can stop watching after seeing KH & MW nude bodies

And that's about the only redeeming value in this lame attempt at humor!

There is absolutely no focus or direction in this mishmash attempt at cinema hilarity. And just when was the last time you saw KH in a truly funny movie? 'Soul Plane' ? 'Night School' ? That's all I can recall.

Early on in this poorly performed flick you see KH and MW butt naked. Both very buff. Enough said - now stop watching and write a letter to someone that has meaning and love in your life!

And the ending is just that! It ends - there is no conclusion to this thread bare plot line. Me Time is nothing but KH seeking 'we time'.

  • WTF creepy movie

Here are a few names of the cast in this movie -

Alison Brie Molly Shannon Aubrey Plaza Fred Armisen Alessandro Nivola Each one of these people are well know accomplished actors. Why were they is this broken axle of a flick?

The plot is more suited to a splatter movie than this junk promoted as romantic comedy. My best description of this flick is creepy & sinister. The Duplass Brothers missed the boat on this on.

  • Most odd flick ever

This early Spielberg flick with a multi-star cast is possibly one of the oddest most worthless attempt at humor ever made.

Not one character comes across as funny and the chemistry between the whole cast has about as much substance as a used tissue. Plus at over 2 hrs long it becomes an endurance test to watch the entire flick.

Steer clear of this big budget mess.

  • Funny from start to finish

Christina takes you on a comedy journey involving herself and her family. Telling it like it is with potholes and all. She's a pro with making you laugh.

The most negative reviews here are suspicious to me. Those reviewers are lacking something in the ability to give into funny life stories. Growing up and parenting takes a clever mind to see humor in the darker times.

Funny! Fast! And full of energy. Schulz keeps the comedy rolling with a great ability to bring up any subject/topic and apply it to himself which makes his 'style' so magnetic.

  • A hoot from the start

Of course Wanda Sykes is what brought me to this show! And she is brilliant in it. The banter in the Upshaw family and the auto repair shop is right on mark and that keeps the story moving! Plus the social situations with the children is so true.

I'm glad the writers/producers are keeping a keen eye on presenting a family with a diverse structure - which brings it closer to the average viewer.

The negative reviews here all seem to have an agenda!!!

  • A bit trite but not a total loss

I plugged into this movie because Al Madrigal is listed in the cast. Well if you blink your eyes twice you'll completely miss his appearance in the movie.

Outside of that the movie isn't totally bad. Eva Longoria and Matt Walsh are just not plausible as a couple. And the gas station/store owner wasn't off his rocker enough to believe he was a paranoid/delusional as the characters Tim and Perkins are.

This flick will pass if you are seeking lite silly entertainment.

  • Couldn't make it thru

If this movie had been made in the 80's or early 90's the story would have been very daring but today it''s just boring!

The plot is laughingly shallow and the script is DRT (dead right there). Fifteen minutes into the movie and I was thinking about what to eat for lunch the next day.

Steer clear of this one and spend some time thinking about a healthy lunch.

  • Middle of road flick

There's one thing you can rightly say about this flick - eye candy and plenty of it.

The Jane Austin 'P&P' comparison is a bit too esoteric - at least for me. I found the plot repetitive and lost. But not bad!

I think this will be a big stepping stone upward in the careers of Bowen Yang and Joel Booster!

  • More than you imagine

What has grabed me by the collar, in this series, is that I find myself wanting, wishing, needing for the plot to be different for the outcome, the fate, of Martha Mitchell. She saw the truth but her husband was too corrupt, too much into the game, too controling to let her speak. And she was too firmly imbeded into his talons to see a way out.

If what I have seen is all true . . . How sad for our nation! Politics is not for honest people. And if the Nixon administration was this psychologically sick then the situation has only become worse.

Some scenes are very brutal - both psychologically and physically.

  • If it weren't so stupid ...

    It would have been sad.

What did the writer Mr. Fellowes do? Did he turn the writing over to a group freshman high school 'film studies' students. Was he lost for a plot with a solid foundation so he expanded on the storyline from 'Singing in the Rain'?

This flick has it all - a long forgotten lover, a possible discovery of the real father of Violet's son, an unxpected inheritance, a bitchy Hollywood starlet who see's her career melting due to movies with sound having arrrived, a handsome Hollywood actor who has the hots for a butler of Downton Abbey, a staff of servants who find themselves cast as upper class dinner guest, a frustrated director, and on it goes. Every cliche possible.

Maggie Smith gave a wind-up old lady doll performance and the rest of the cast should have been paper dolls because that was about all they gave.

  • Not much to say, but it's a fun flick!

This is a sweet story of two young misfits who find each other and persue an adventure together. There's no violence, no crazy sex, no foul language, just two teens out to find themselves and hopefully achive a goal.

The bonus in the story is 'a twist' you won't see coming. Ethan Dizon as Paulie and Madison Wolfe as Avery have a certain enjoyable chemical attraction to one another which makes this story so enjoyable.

Give it a try for easy summer entertainment.

  • Perfectly fun

Anyone watching this series shouldn't be expecting ground breaking comedy! This series is just for lighthearted fun and entertainment. I jumped on this show because Molly Shannon is one of the main characters and each show has been a fun 30 minutes. Vanessa Bayer, Jenifer Lewis, Paul James and all the other cast members work flawlessly as a group.

You can't go wrong watching this topial comedy of average people seeking fame on TV no matter what the path brings into their life. And the message made very clear - the material world can't bring happiness! As Darcy discovers.

  • Fascinating and depressing

Andy Warhol's America is a three part series of Warhol's personal life, his art, and the social life he lived.

Once I started I couldn't stop watching because Warhol is such a mysteriously complex person - withdrawn into himself yet his thoughts are the very images he created. I believe he is a perfect example of that type of person who has fame and fortune fall unto them not because he sought it out; but rather fame and fortune found him.

His life and creative self are both fascinating and depressing! He mirrored a world that seemed hell bent on self destruction. I wonder how he would interpret todays world?

This series is well worth seeing but be prepared to see a world that is sad and confusing. And incredible art that looks mass produced and yet the very personal expression of his ability to show us how and where 'art' can be found!

  • Needed message

Jramirez-66906 offers a nice review of this documentary about how disabled and physically different people are oftentimes portrayed in movies.

But one section of the docu gets into animation (cartoon) and I felt that was a bit off course. Plus it really isn't that necessary to have a real disabled person portray a disabled character. It's called 'actinng'!

I once saw an opera in which an asian singer played the leading role of a Scottish woman in an opera written by an Italian composer. Did it make a difference in the story -- no!

  • Simple film with a message

The title is 'Hunter' and the book spoken about by Gavin and Carter is - The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.

Each character here wants to 'connect with another' yet we all keep a thin layer of ice between us because we fear being 'known'! Therefore in our own ways we deceive ourselves and others through various ways. Hopefully the hunting heart will discover that which is often right before us.

Certainly not the best acting nor production here. But the plot is honest and the message came across clearly to me. Why other reviews here missed it is a mystery to me.
