Breumaster

The story is about a young femal journalist and her father, traveling from New York to their decent country Poland. They go through many stations of the life of their family and the father is remembered on earlier time so often by seeing things he saw when he was a kid. It's also about the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The movie tell a heart shaking story without any pointing finger and shows up what people want, when they suffered such a bad time. They only want to quit it and live. It shows how intense living is, when you suffered such a human desaster. The father-daughter part is funny as well as heartful and open minded. It was big joy to see.

I recommend it to people who don't need cheap entertainment or a firework of effects. It's complex in its way, but also silent and slow.

This movie is that overly intellectual in a stupid and fake way, that I could only watch it to the half. The highgloss color plays of the illumination can't hide that this one is made of nothing. For me it seems neurotic, somehow. If movies like that are the coming of age movies today, I only can turn my head away and shake it. The scenes are disjointed somehow, the symbolism doesn't match with anything I could connect to. It was simply wasted time in a performance-artists show. If I want something like that, I'll better watch Cirque de Soleil. Then I would have more fun and the music would also be better. I want my Euro back, I payed for. No one can give me back the time I wasted. :(

The movie seems completely senseless. There is a pseudo story about the life of a killer and the life of a mute guy. As I understood it should be a comedy, but I didn't laugh one time. In nearly each scene people smoke, even though while masturbating. I didn't see any sense in it than providing the tobacco industry with new addictives. There wasn't shown any brand, but that doesn't matter. The stinky sticks were the only real matter of that movie.

They tried to cover it with some kind of (at that time) new rebellious humor, which doesn't fit anymore. The humor touches me like second hand embarressment. After watching nearly 2/3 we skipped it because it was unbearable dumb and pointless. Despite the good optics, they should have put some more effort in the story instead of making it a smoking commercial. This is a typical movie for people who want to cover their addiction with themes of coolness and sexual connotations to smoking.

I was watching that because it was a cheap offer from Amazon and I'm gratefull to not have paid the full price for it. The movie simply was one of the biggest dissappointments we experienced this year and we still wonder about the high ratings. I wont watch that again. It surely is a movie for tobacco-maniacs.
