After doing multi episodes like 70s disaster movies, this season went even bigger. A whole load of familiar characters doing some pretty outrageous things to solve the Big A Line plot of the previous two episodes.
I don't care how probable in actuality it all is, all I care about is does the internal logic flow clean and true and is it entertaining? It's definitely entertaining, and from rescuing a billionaire Tech Bro from being swallowed by a whale to going into space carries along at such a brisk pace that any absurdities just caused me a gleeful, "NO! THEY DID THAT?" Like Star Terk: The Next Generation repackged their two parters into movies for home video, then I think these big 9-1-1 episodes could be done in a similar way.
Low on the soapy side of things, big on good old fashioned disaster vibes; it's going to be one heck of a comedown for the rest of the season.

There are aspects of this sort of film that this movie flip.
Brandon Routh makes another bold choice of character - and yet again we see how we were robbed of a brilliant Superman. The rest of the cast is superb, also. I mean, Jeff Fahey taking a cameo? That means they knew this script has a lot going for it.
The editing is sharp, the pacing sometimes is a little too brisk, but it covers all the points. If you're older, you'll really enjoy as they all lampoon the high schoolers in trouble and on one believes them cosmic terror tropes - while leaning into them, too.
Best enjoyed on a wet Sunday afternoon with the tasty beverages of your choice...

I didn't expect that, for sure. I was expecting Dog Gone or Marley and Me, but it's different from either and not bogged down with the cloying Hollywood ersatz sentimentality.
This goes for some hard punches; mostly without telegraphing them, too.
The direction and editing to make the dog do what the story needs are superb. The chemistry between the dog and the lead actor is clear... and being Brazilian, it isn't stuck with the annoying Hollywood tropes.
Attractive people and dogs perform well for dramatic enjoyment. The ending felt a bit rushed, but... an engaging watch until then.
