Her ability to tell stories and capture moments that marry the interior voice with the expansive visual voice of carefully crafted frames has led to the creation of numerous impactful images that will continue to influence narrative story tellers and touch the hearts and minds of viewers for years to come," said Coates.

"Donna brings so much to the table on any project that she works on. In addition to being an amazing artist who provides Storyboards and Concept Illustration, she holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, was a Reserve Deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for 20 years and a Forensic Artist for major Law Enforcement agencies. This multi-faceted career has allowed Donna to provide many forms of art and research to the Film and Television projects on which she has worked and often to also extend that knowledge base into being the Technical Advisor on the production. This position may often include assisting the cast with gaining proficiency in roles that necessitate accurate knowledge in medicine, forensics, science and psychology. She also collaborated with Writers and other Department Heads on a production to assist with technical accuracy. It is unusual to offer that breadth of experience and creative talent to entertainment projects. We wanted to make sure that we recognized and honor Donna's career with this year's Lifetime Achievement Award" said Tim Wilcox, ADG Illustrators and Matte Artist Council Chair

"The roots of Graphic Design for Film and TV can be easily traced back to Michael and Denise Okuda and their work on the Star Trek franchise," said Clint Schultz, STG Council Chair. "Through graphic design, the Okudas added a unique visual language to sets, whether it was through props, signage or their graphical user interface for playback (also known as Okudagrams). Additionally, their work on Star Trek led to "real-world" graphic design opportunities and lending their artistic talents to NASA's various space programs. They continue to work and inspire all of us within the craft and are the true definition of teamwork."
