Bob Jillson was brought into the Universal Studios Top Deck theme park as a set designer and art director, developing plans for the 1988 European Street area addition to the theme park. Bob remained on the project, supervising construction and painting, until the street was opened in the fall of 1988. The outside painting contractors did not know how to age and finish the exterior buildings. The Universal Studios Paint Shop painters, under Steve Purdy's supervision, repainted and re-finished all the exterior buildings after the outside contractors were dismissed from their duties.
