- Was a member of the legendary Toronto production of Godspell, along with Martin Short, Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Victor Garber and musical director Paul Shaffer.
- She won her first Tony Award playing a woman her own age in "My Favorite Year" in which she appeared with Mark Linn Baker. She then played comical "old lady" roles in six more Broadway shows and received Tony nominations for all but one of them, and added a second Tony Award as the old lady in "Pippin".
- Former member of Toronto Second City.
- Andrea Martin is of Armenian descent - her grandfather's last name was Papazian when he immigrated in the early 1900s from Ottoman Turkey. When he settled his family in Maine, he changed the last name from Papazian to Martin. Andrea's other grandparents were also ethnic Armenian immigrants.
- For her second Tony Award, the Broadway revival of "Pippin", she played the role originated by Irene "Granny Clampett" Ryan, who was also nominated for a Tony Award for that role but did not win.
- Take classes, work with other actors, create your own material, and stop blaming your agent. You can change how people see you. It all lies with you, but that takes a lot of work, and it's endless. Yes, I believe in luck. Some people are luckier than others. I've worked hard, but I've also been fortunate.
- There's always something you can garner from someone else's approach. I'm not proud at all. I may have missed something, and I'm not worried about copying anybody. Despite my years at SCTV, I'm not a good impersonator. It's hard to play someone else. It always comes from me. It has to. I work really hard every night. That's why I don't like long runs.
- There are always going to be people who see me a certain way, but that's not important. What's important is that I began to see that I could do other things. The minute you believe you can do other things, you will convince others as well. Then you can go into an audition without fear but with excitement because you can't wait to show all you can do. If you feel you have limitations, that will come across.
