He attempted to sue Aaron Spelling Productions in the early 1990s for not telling him early enough about the mini-series Dynasty: The Reunion (1991) (Thomson had starred in the original series Dynasty (1981) from 1982-1989). In the years following the original "Dynasty," Thomson had become a cast member of the daytime soap Santa Barbara (1984) and was unable to take time off because of the conflicting schedules. His role on "Dynasty: The Reunion" was recast with actor Robin Sachs.

At first, he wanted to work in architecture or law, he made up his mind very late to be an actor.

Graduated with honors from Montreal's McGill University.

Gordon starred in Godspell with co-stars with Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Paul Shaffer, Victor Grabor, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, and Gilda Radner in Toronto early 70's.

[2017, on his sexuality and starring in Dynasty (1981)] Oh no. No. I wasn't out, are you kidding? The show, the time, the fact I was a leading man to look at. No. No. No. Rock [Hudson] only came out when he got sick. This was an utterly different time. Richard Chamberlain, who I know very slightly, had what I think was the right attitude to it. If you look like a leading man, why bother coming out? You don't have to. The fact is half your audience is women and most of those women are straight, and this is who you are playing to especially with a show like Dynasty, or a soap opera. You're also a source of fantasy. Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi are wonderful people, but pardon me, how many audience members fantasize about fucking either one of them? Really. It had a lot to do with what you looked like, I'm afraid. It's not something I've ever announced. I'm assuming that people know, and now that I'm my age that's fine. I don't go out of my way because it's my generation, I think. I'm probably as homophobic as any gay man alive because of my background.
