- Is also remembered for her introductions on The Jackie Gleason Show (1966). She was known as "The Away We Go" girl, who every week introduced Jackie's variety skits with that immortal phrase.
- She and Charles Nelson Reilly made several appearances as a "couple" on the celebrity couples' game show Tattletales (1974) in the 1970's, even though neither were married at the time. Reilly was, in fact, openly gay.
- She started out as a fashion model with the Ford Modeling Agency. She was a member of the Helen Hayes Repertory Company for several years.
- Philanthropist, environmentalist and ardent animal lover, noted for her donations to Greenpeace, Save the Children and other funds.
- In April 1984, Allen was still keeping up with a hectic pace of publicity after 30 years in show business. When she died in 2006, it was reported that she left no immediate survivors. It was her sister-in-law Marion Gillease who told reporters the cause of her death.
