His elder brother Paul Angelis was also an actor who voiced Ringo Starr in Yellow Submarine (1968). Coincidentally, Starr and the Angelis brothers grew up in the Dingle area of Liverpool, and Michael Angelis replaced Starr as narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (1984).
