Biographie

He was awarded the 1990 Joseph Jefferson Award Citation for Actor in a Principal Role in a Play for "Mass Murder" at the Prop Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.

In 1992 he opened a printmaking studio in Chicago, Big Cat Press, which later became an exhibition space, Firecat Projects.

Published books include, The Wonder: Portraits of a Remembered City, volumes 1, 2 & 3, This Train with Alex Kotlowitz, Bum Town, Dime Stories, Secret Birds, Max and Gaby's Alphabet.

Has two children, Max and Gabrielle (Gaby).

An early break came in 1989 when the powerhouse New Orleans R&B group the Neville Brothers hired him to create the cover of "Yellow Moon." The album would become the group's global breakthrough and earn them a Grammy.
