When joining the SAG, there already was another "Danny McBride" ('Dirty Dan' McBride), so he added the initial to his professional name. After receiving more and more movie credit he is allowed to go by "Danny McBride" since mid-2008.

Attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with collaborators Ben Best and Jody Hill.

Usually receives writing credit as "Danny R. McBride".

Once worked as a substitute teacher.

Was in a relationship with Gia Ruiz for nine years before getting married. They got engaged in their sixth year together.

Wife's uncle is Cheech Marin.

Attended film school with longtime friend David Gordon Green.

McBride's wife, Gia Ruiz, gave birth to their first child, a son named Declan George McBride (Sept. 26, 2011).
