I had low expectations of this but its not a bad film. Low budget obviously but quite a strong story and the central question is an interesting one.
There's actually a lot of love in the movie and some nicely played scenes with the lead and her gran and father in particular. Some okay jump scares too.
its not ground breaking but the reviews here are too harsh and its definitely worth a watch.
its not quickly paced, but what one person sees as slow another finds tension building.
I'll be looking out for what the writer and director does next

This movie is the opposite of most of the bad horror movies I've seen. This movie had a good idea and the script is written well and it has an especially sweet ending. The problems with this movie are in the execution. It needed better actors, better scene design and better music. The acting is so wooden by virtually everyone, it is hard to understand or identify with any character. The music is almost laughable in how standard it is for the scenes.
It really is disappointing that this story did not get the attention it deserved.

My quick rating - 4,2/10. Well, that was another waste of time, basically. Very slow moving. A few young adults are going camping and on the way, they stop and hear someone crying. Upon entering the persons house to see if they need help (who does that?) they find a ouija board. Well when they are startled and run away, they take the board. I guess the opening scene was a setup for the evil spirit caught in the board (Here comes that evil giant Hasbro and their supernatural control on sale now for 19.99 at your Toys r Us). Of course they trio decide to play with it on their camping trip, unleash the demon and then....well, standard fare after that. And boring fare it is. The lead (Elizabeth Reaser) hesitantly becomes the focus of the possession by not wanting to play. Then, anyone who tries to help her, gets killed. In very unspectacular fashions. Not sure why these toys are so popular again these days but kids, feel free to try this at home. When you do, make sure you don't bother watching this movie. The ending is what gives this any merit but not sure you want to sit through this to get to it.
I need not bore you with details about the story. The few scary moments come about by startling us viewers with sudden noises, or presenting glimpses of ghostly figures in the background, and the most memorable of these is a shadow!
I found myself being annoyed instead of frightened by a number of weird occurrences, such as a friend of our heroine excusing himself to urinate, and then disappearing for quite some time, leaving our heroine helplessly calling and searching for him. Doors around our tortured lead magically shut, one by one, leaving her helplessly banging on them and pleading with them to open. Then ominous ghostly characters appear from nowhere to spook her. What are they intending to do? Who knows? The doors simply unlock themselves and the spirits are gone.
I sat through this film mainly to see how the story would end. To sum it up, I'm not quite sure, because the finally is vague and confusing.
I hope my review will save you from sitting through this tedious and overly long movie as I just did.
This movie did one thing right. The protagonaist spent most of the movie sleeping, and i found i could also spend most of the movie sleeping.
The sound editor should also be taking their meds.

- GaffesIn first few minutes of movie, when the girl walks into the house she leaves the door wide open. About a minute later she runs to the door to escape and the door closes on its own. The door is only about one third shut before it closes.
