Mr. Mister: Broken Wings

Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings" is an amazing and touching song, a real flight to the senses both in lyrics and melody. Their number one single - one hit wonder too - didn't get a deserving video for such beautiful song. You got lead singer driving desert roads to nowhere; a couple dancing tango in short random sequences and the group performing the music. That's it. Sometimes I'm harsh when talking about music videos that are more inclined to performances and group exposure rather than concept because the former can be too boring, almost non special unless the artist or group find all the right emotions to deliver the song beyond words and harmony. The two feelings you can get are from the heart-breaking song and the great-looking monochromatic cinematography - you can't get wrong with stylistic black-and-white photography.

In other times, I'd be induced to write more descriptions about it but gladly I don't. It's not a case of a bad video; it just doesn't get me all that much and the praise goes all to the music. Other remarkable fine things about the clip: it's not awfully dated (except for the heavy synthesizers); it's well put together and there's few corny moments - pop/rock fundamental trademark of having band members to give a sexy look for the camera in close shots. Sometimes it works. A dramatic storyline would benefit more the video, but luckily "Broken Wings" got his place in history due to massive radio plays, inclusion on films and series, and this clip it's just a drop in the ocean for the song - a bigger wave for those curious in seeing the band. It's nice. 7/10
