While Sam, Palmer, and Ms. Vivian are having their meatball dinner and discussing her change from the store being shorted, at the beginning of the scene Sam has one meatball and a tiny bit of spaghetti on his plate then when Ms. Vivian tells Sam to "eat his supper", his plate amount miraculously has more food on it.
At the 1:30 mark, Palmer is in front of the judge with a child advocate inquiring about guardianship. When the judge advises him of his current standing with parole, Palmer is seen standing with his hands in his pockets, and noticeably, a tear streaks down the right side of his face. The scene then goes back to the judge and then back to Palmer, where there is no trace (or track) of a tear having been shed.
Around 29 min, Sam is seen to go to school by bus, while Palmer stays back. Palmer is a janitor and he is supposed to reach school before students.

While Palmer is sitting looking through the old photo album after Ms. Vivian dies you can see a brown outline of his fake tattoo on his upper shoulder.
A crucifix is prominently positioned next to the door of the home, but the grandmother attends a Protestant church, which would use a cross instead of a crucifix.
