Chronofilm

Given the description, I had hopes for this show, but it failed to come through.

Horrible cinematography seems to be the focus, along with random scene changes, a hint of conspiracy, and then the time travel is given a bit of time.

The grid of images that shows up time and again has no purpose. The intentionally video "glitchy" scene changes are annoying. The story lines are fragmented, with none given any depth.

Skip the pilot (parts 1&2). Episode #2 of 4 (or #3 of 8) 'Meet the team'', makes a Beter introduction to the series. (I saw the 4 episode version, the 8 episodes were doubled up) Cronofilm was entertaining, but left too many plotlines unfinished for the 2nd season which will never get made. Other reviewers made the mistake of dropping out after the first episode.

The camerawork and editing needs work. The fake static and glitches were totally unnecessary. Made it look sloppy, not realityish. They were supposed to be a professional production crew.

Unknown benefactor builds a time machine. Secretly sends history researchers back in time to film events. Then airs the footage as recreations on TV. Why, is never explained. Explanations are probably left for season 2, which will never come. The 'groundbreaking recreations' are not seen in the series.

It starts with an interesting propersition but the wheels falls off when the time travel machine arrives. It screams budget. The sound is unbelievable. In one scene of 2 people, one sounds like his in a drain and the other sounds like they are in a sound proof box.

Cue the very annoying backing muzak, more cheap. The final nail in its coffin is the patchy dialogue. It's banial. It begs the question if the observers are interacting with the people in the past then they are changing history.

It quickly becomes a confusion of flash back images, the past while in the present, the past, the future, the what?? Also how are the people in the past being introduced to future tech?

Basically it is garbage.

My rule of thumb is that you can have one break with reality - be it space travel, magic or improbable characters - This fails in that it combines time travel with completely irrational behaviour of the characters - What this means in practice is that there is nothing to believe in a and nobody to care about.

Couldn't think of a good reason to watch episode 2.

This series has a clever idea which is pretty well realised, some acting is good and some is not so good.

It clearly didn't have the budget to realise things exactly how they probably wanted but despite that it managed to keep me entertained and I genuinely enjoyed it, binge watching it over a few nights on Amazon.

Some of the dialogue is a bit cheesey at times I think, perhaps corny is a better word, but this really does have an entertaining original story and the episodes are well made.

I think with a bigger budget it would be able to achieve better what it seems to be aiming for if there is another series made, but if you enjoy series like Timeless, The Ministry Of Time or Time Trax you'll probably find this worth a look.
