This film is about the famous south indian actress "Shakeela" (only in south india she is famous) and her journey in film industry. This film is unoffcially the sequel of the 2011 Dirty Picture.
Now, hardly anyone from North India (or i would say 95% Indians) dont really know who Shakeela is. So, those who really wanted to know who she is end up watching this film which is an absolute yawn fest. Not read about her much but whatever was shown in the film is neither interesting nor inspiring. No doubt for me, Shakeela is not an inspiration. Giving in to doing C grade films just because you have financial problems is not a solution there are many out there who have financial problems but have never given in to doing C grade films.
Coming to the main film, the entire film has nothing interesting to watch. In fact, it gets even more boring as the climax approaches. Trust me, its so boring to watch a lady visit her old house, slowly looking at old stuff , slowly walking around the village and all these parts come in when the film desperately needs a fire-up. At the end, the film seems to grasp for an ending and ultimately ends up in no-man's land.
Trust me, there is nothing interesting in her life that could have formed a story unlike the latest web series "Maharani" where actually there was a motive behind everything.
Performance wise, everyone is terrible. Pankaj Tripathi is being a usual Mirzapur kind of Pankaj Tripathi when you had to have that south indian accent to your voice. Dude, when you show a south indian film, people should carry some south accent but nah! Here, everyone talks in proper Hindi. Not a tinch of south indian flavor that you feel from the actors and what to say about Richa Chadda, she's neither sexy nor acted properly.
Overall, i dont see the purpose of even making this film. Who even green lit this project is a question. Neither is Shakeela inspiring, nor is she entertaining, on the contrary the film is so boring that i had to skip to climax even when 30 mins were left.

Shakeela review :
Not many may know that Shakeela was a Southern sex siren of late 90s and early 2000s and her Malayalam films became such rage that their badly dubbed Hindi versions made it to the matinee shows of Mumbai single screens. This film is a purported biopic on this actor though it seems to be heavily inspired from Vidya Balan's super hit 'The Dirty Picture' (2011) which itself was a biopic on another soft porn star Silk Smitha.
Interestingly, the character Silk has a small presence in this film and it is only after her suicide that Shakeela's fortune changes. Pushed in to the soft porn industry by her greedy mother, Shakeela's rise to the top and her subsequent fall is chronicled in the film though it is nowhere as convincing and exciting as the Vidya Balan film.
Richa Chadda, in the titular role, is not bad but she doesnt resemble the real life Shakeela at all. There is no transformation in terms of accent and body language; something Balan could achieve fantastically in The Dirty Picture. Pankaj Tripathi playing superstar Salim is absolutely bland. As for the other supporting cast, the less said the better.
Shakeela is not a kind of film worth risking the theatres for. You may try it out once it premieres online.
