I'm sure most of the cast and crew of "Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again" is currently plotting to have this embarrassing movie erased from existence. They've very effectively removed all the joy, youthful exuberance and goofiness from the old comic books (and tolerable TV cartoons) and replaced it with sullen, slow, thick and execrably cheesy made-for-TV mush. Avoid this stinkeroo at all costs, even if it means watching a blank screen for 2 hours instead.
I don't know why people trash this movie, it's not bad at all! Of course I can understand why people don't like it, due to the 'grown-up' Archie characters...Plus this was probably a pilot for a TV series that never took off the ground (I wish that this had been a series.) And remember you can't explain everything in a pilot episode. I'm a fan of the comics and had been for many years when the movie came out.
But all in all, it's a great film. Some characters are the same years later, others are very different they where in the comics!
It's 15 years since the gang has graduated from the halls of Riverdale High:
Christopher Rich plays Archie, now a lawyer, getting ready for a move to the big city, and he's engaged to Pam, a very stuck up woman.
Sam Whipple is Jughead, a shrink now, (A very far strech for Juggy) but he's divorced, with a son, and has women problems.
Karen Kopkins plays Veronica, Ronnie is still the same, after 4 husbands, and she's still daddy's little girl, but Ronnie is realizing that money doesn't buy happiness.
Gary Kroeger is Reggie, He is no longer the wisecracker he was, while in the halls of Riverdale High, Reg probably owns the entire block that houses 'Pop's Choc'late Shop'...
and last but not least of the gang is Betty, wonderfully played by Lauren Holly. She does a great job of being the happy-go-lucky character that Betty is! And Betty has a boyfriend, who is not the happier to meet Archie Andrews.
Plus we get to meet Moose and Midge, Big Ethyl, Mr Weatherbee, Mrs Gundy, Coach Taylor, but sadly the movie is missing Dilton, and Coach Taylor's son Chuck.
All of the characters are back in town for the class reunion others have been in Riverdale since school ended. The movie is like an Archie comic, in a 'years later' kind of way. The storyline has many different side stories, but is a fun movie to watch.
I'd give it 8 out of 10 stars....

Although this film is not as good as the comic books, it is still worth watching. The acting is a bit cardboard. The guy that said Mr. Lodge would never do anything to physically harm Archie is right and Veronica would never refuse her father's money, I still love to watch this film.
When ever I travel I always buy Arche comics because they provide joyous laughs. Watching this movie a week ago made me realize that some comics shouldn't be made into movies. The cast mainly full of unknowns excepet for Lauren Holly. The plot revoles around the gang at their high school reunion. But where are Chuck and Dilton ? Another flaw is having the same charcters play each other when their 15 which is dumb. The film's low point comes when Jughead tries to rap. I would made this film when the gang was in high school and have them reunite at the end instead of baseing the whole around the reunion. We can only hope that the feature film version in devolpement with a cast incudling Tobey Maugiure,Joshua Jackson and Christina Ricci will be do the comic justic.
I just watched this on Tubi for the first time. I like that the characters are on point with the way they are portrayed in the comic. It's funny but also pretty corny which is very accurate to the comics, as is the plot. However, it was a little boring.
The Riverdale tv show on Netflix is better in many ways but I hate that it is such a stretch from the comic which I know and love from my childhood.
I always thought they should use twins to play Betty and Veronica who are wearing different wigs. Archie and Jughead were not very handsome in the comic and they certainly picked the correct actors for that too.

- AnecdotesThe TV series Riverdale (2017) names all of its episode titles after movies. The eleventh episode of the first season, Chapter Eleven: To Riverdale and Back Again (2017), was named after this made-for-TV film.
- GaffesThey may have used The Hazzard Town Square from the Dukes of Hazzard for when Archie's car flew into Reggie's gym, but the Lodge Estate, was used by Murder, She Wrote & Universal & the episode that Lodge Estate was featured in was "It Runs in the Family", where it dealt with the British Peerage, that had brought up a Viscount's murder & his father's as well.

Veronica Lodge: Don't worry, I've had 13.
- Autres versionsThere are several differences between the video release and the original TV version. In addition to the title being changed, several scenes are cut from the video release. Cut scenes include:
- Pop Tate good-naturedly chiding Archie as he discounts Archie's claim to have seen the Concorde fly into town
- Archie's high school flashback in which he discusses with Jughead his dilemma over who to take to the prom (takes place as he first sees Betty and Veronica at the reunion)
- Jordan and Max speculating on which of them can think of worse pranks to play on Archie
- Betty's high school flashback in which she and Veronica promise each other not to be angry no matter who Archie asks to the prom (takes place during their tennis game--this scene first mentions Ronnie's dream of marrying a tall Frenchman, which she later tells Archie that she did)
- Jordan putting green gelatin dessert into the foot of Archie's bed, Archie's discovery of said gelatin while he is on the phone with Pam, and his claim the next morning to have taken the dessert off his feet and put it back into the bowl (claim made as Jordan is eating the tainted gelatin)
- Archie's high school flashback in which Betty informs him she is giving up hope for their relationship, and she is leaving town after graduation to pursue a writing career (takes place after she walks away from him in the library, but before he stops her from leaving)
- The beginning of the junkyard scene, when Jughead tells his son that the junkyard holds the old gang's ghosts, Jughead and Archie discuss Archie's dilemma in choosing between Betty, Veronica, and Pam, and Jordan shows them a Hank Aaron-autographed baseball mitt he found. The scene picks up when the trio arrive in the vicinity of the jukebox.
- Archie's high school flashback in which he asks Veronica to the prom, but she turns him down and informs him that she will be moving to France to go to college after graduation (takes place during their embrace as they walk through the park)
- Reggie asking Archie to put in a good word for him with Ronnie in exchange for his trying to persuade Mr. Lodge not to evict Pop Tate, and Veronica's appearance out of the blue to kiss Archie--and changing Reggie's mind on his offer.
- Robert and Pam exchanging names and shaking hands while the Archies sing "Jingle Jangle"
- ConnexionsFollowed by Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996)
