Night of the Creeps is the “I Love the ‘80s” of moviemaking. It has every element and cliché ever put into a film made in the greatest decade.

A faultlessly fun genre picture.

A clever debut film from writer-director Fred Dekker that combines science fiction, horror, and comedy into a fairly entertaining package.

Beyond it's obviously derivative inspiration, the film shows a fair ability to create suspense, build tension and achieve respectable performances.

Overall, Creeps is witty, it's scary, it's gory, and it includes a number of one-liners that many film-fans still quote today, though none will ever be as memorable as: "The good news is…your dates are here. The bad news is…they're dead."

Neither Dekker's sloppy direction nor the cheapo make-up and effects do justice to the hand-me-down but sporadically lively script. Not the most sophisticated or scary horror film of the year, perhaps, but enjoyable enough in a ramshackle sort of way.

Night Of The Creeps has all the ingredients of a top-notch cult movie, yet Dekker too often ends up recycling clichés rather than subverting or spoofing them.

Unfortunately, the film's stalking hordes of zombies aren't the only lifeless things about it. [03 Nov 1986, p.B2]
