Redneck Zombies

Filmed in what looks like a cornfield in glorious Smyrna Delaware, Redneck Zombies delivers traditional Troma-fare. Somehow a vat of toxic waste makes it's connection with one rednecked family's moonshine. Before you know it......Zombie/Cannibal festival. While this is going down we have a subplot, i.e. potential victims/survivors added to the mix. A group of mismatched folks who look more like the local Smyrna drama club, than a bunch of hearty campers, start hiking through the danger zone. You can probably figure out what happens next. Being that this is Troma there will be lots of blood and guts. The movie, despite being extremely low budget, is generous with the gore. There are some faults to this movie though. A major one being the cheesy 80's computer graphics added in on occasion to create that "bad acid trip" effect. The creators also had a Texas Chainsaw fetish, as seen in the last few moments of the film. If you are into zombies, rednecks, hiking in cornfields, community theater, or moonshine. This may be the movie for you. It delivers what it promises plain and simple.

Okay, so it's not a masterpiece. But this movie is freakin' hilarious. I don't like Troma movies, but this movie is so funny. It's only for die-hard fans of horror films. This movie is definitely stupid and the acting is nothing short of horrid, but it's fun and it makes you laugh. What's more important than that?

Thank God someone had the lack of taste to make this saucy little number. Redneck Zombies is one of the best splatter comedies ever! It's got tons of gore, hilarious dialogue, some surprisingly good acting, and some truly disturbing moments. I didn't expect to actually be unnerved by a film with a title like Redneck Zombies, but it definitely has some moody, disconcerting scenes in it. Released by Troma, the undisputed kings of bad taste cinema. Go pick up a copy today, or I'll go a lookin' fer ya. HEH, HEH, HEH!!!

When a film begins with a mental patient in a hospital putting out a cigarette on an already very scarred forearm (his own), you know you've got a twisted film on your hands. This is certainly a gore splatter, but the nastiness and quality of the gore push it beyond another sad blood fest. Loaded with humour and revolting stuff. There's a very weird acid freak out scene when the first rednecks become zombies, and later a guy on acid freaks out while performing an autopsy. The tobacco man is hilarious (a tobacco salesman who has to cover his head with a blood strained sack as his face is so hideous from years of chewing tabacco). There's also some great imagery, and at times even threatens to create some atmosphere! Miles ahead of anything else the Troma team has come up with.

On a strange note, I've rented this film twice, at two different flats, & watched it with two different flatmates. They both fell asleep half way through. Inexplicable.

Not really. It was worth watching, i mean from the acid trips to the moonshine and cousin lovin zombies you can,t believe yours eyes. This movie wasn't really a hit, but it is one of the funniest B movies ever made.
