Well, given the cast involved, this was surprisingly disappointing. BEST FRIEND OF THE COPS is another cop-themed Hong Kong comedy, this time teaming up two of the genre heavyweights of the late '80s and early '90s; none other than Alex Man and Jacky Cheung! Man gets the biggest role as a former cop and schemer whose entire plotline seems to be to scam as many people as possible in order to get free stuff. Cheung has a more minor role as a small time criminal turned informer who just comes and goes as the story progresses. Not that there is much story here; this one just sort of ambles along plotlessly, with mild humour and nothing much else. Even the normally reliable Man fails to shine.
