Puppies for Sale

One has to wonder why so late in his career Hollywood legend Jack Lemmon decided to star in an 8 minute short subject. My guess he fell in love with the sublime and simple message of the story.

Young Jesse James comes into Jack Lemmon's store wanting to buy a puppy and Lemmon shows him what he's got for sale. The boy insists on buying a crippled one that Lemmon explains was born without a hip socket so he has restricted motion. The boy insists that is the one he wants. As he leaves the store Lemmon sees why.

No doubt other than fate taking a hand with bringing Jesse James to the pet shop that animal would have been destroyed. But a kid with some special needs felt a dog with the same would be perfect for him.

I defy you not to get a tear or two when seeing this film.

This is a wonderful little movie about a pet store owner who sells a puppy to a little boy and experiences a little more than he expected to. Anyone who has seen My Dog Skip will find that this one has the same kind of sweet charm that is so rare in family movies these days. Why can't more full length family movies be like this? I watched Puppies for sale for the first time in 2005, i searched for this movie every where and i was happy that finally i found the movie. I look for very very hard movies and it does take time, all you have to do is keep trying, never ever give up or you won't be able to see what you want to see. Try is the answer. So great. jack Lemmon is my favourite actor and as many movies i have seen him in, i near say anything bad about his work, he is truly a heart warming, kind, gentle actor i have ever seen and i like people like that. I give puppies for sale 10 out of 10 because it is such a heart warming movie, I could watch it over and over again. It touches you heart and makes it gentle and warm.

This is a great film. I first saw it on Atomfilms.com, and I'm actually trying to locate it right now to buy. It teaches us A VERY IMPORTANT lesson in life. One of the greatest shorts, iv'e ever seen. And Jack Lemmon was a great actor, and it was great to see him in such a moving film. But the best thing about it was the writing. I always said, the most important part of making a movie is the story. While each part of the production is important, I feel the writing is the most important. Thats like the foundation of a house. And "Puppies For Sale" was a great story despite it being short. Another great thing about this film was that there were only 2 people in it. For a movie to have a small cast, there must be some really good writing involved in order to keep the attention of the viewers. If you have not seen this short,I highly recommend you to see it whenever you can. I saw this movie a few years ago online, and never forgot it!
