Double Dare

With the music at times imitating The James Bond Theme, Barbara Dare is stuck in a very shoddy porn parody, clearly aiming at the "so bad it's good" crowd to enjoy.

She's a super spy, receiving an assignment in an idiotic opening scene of her at an outdoor public phone, told the details of her mission and instructed to put her little tape recorder into a mail box. I expected the mail box to explode in "Mission: Impossible" fashion, but nothing happened.

The assignment concerns retrieving the priceless gem called The Belly Button Ruby of Burma, stolen from a museum. That indicates we're in for a silly story. Cheap production never shows the ruby, a dangling script mistake.

She hooks up with the enemy, a Russian spy named Vladimir who is hanging out in her home (he snuck in). Michael DeMarco, a journeyman B-movie actor plays Vladimir but can't keep his crummy accent straight scene to scene. He looks like an imitation of the young Edward James Olmos, not all that surprising considering Eddie was riding high co-starring on "Miami Vice" when this clunker was shot.

Barbara shows Vlad a new trick she's come up with: swirling around like Wonder Woman she can create at will a double of herself, hence the video's title. It's presented as something like a clone, as she orders the double to masturbate and then joins the double to have lesbian sex "with herself", impressing Vlad no end.

Mission is to visit Madam Lola's brothel, to search for the ruby. It's soon revealed that Madam Lola (played by the great Mai Lin) has stolen the gem and is planning to sell it to Vladimir, with the money she's to get financing her dream of fleeing to Australia and buying the biggest ranch brothel there. Her submissive assistant is played for laughs by Steve Drake.

Sex scenes take place at the brothel and are very poorly edited, stretching out to have their climaxes (cum shots) not taking place until much later in the movie. Even worse, all the actors are directed to exaggerate their fake passion throughout the show, leading to noisy orgasms (and cum shots) that are utterly ridiculous.

The story gets sillier and sillier, with plot twists that are strictly groan-inducing. Buffy Davis and Bunny Bleu stand out in the supporting cast for sheer sexiness.

By video's end one feels sorry for Dare, an attractive star who deserved a lot better than being roped into such a crummy project.
