Despite the characters and subject matter, wrestling itself was hardly ever featured or even referenced. It was simply a plot device to determine the heroes from the villains. It was therefore appropriate that Hogan be the leader of the good guys. As he was long considered the epitome of good in wrestling. Roddy Piper was equally justified in being the leader of the bad guys. As he was often, even to this day, considered the greatest villain in professional wrestling history.
As of 2023, none of the Heels are alive:

Mad Maxine was originally animated for the "Rock N Wrestling" cartoon but since she left the WWF before the cartoon came out, she was replaced by The Fabulous Moolah. It was rumored that Moolah politicked her way into the cartoon out of jealousy towards Maxine's quick success.
The series theme song, entitled "Hulk Hogan's Theme" and available on The Wrestling Album, was an edited instrumental version of Bonnie Tyler's song "Ravishing" from her Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire album. The theme, written by Jim Steinman, was also used by Hulk Hogan as his entrance music, prior to adopting "Real American" by Rick Derringer (which at the time was being used by the tag team of Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham).
Hulk Hogan appeared in some of the live-action segments of the Cartoon series.
