Neat!
I liked watching this syndicated version of Sonic the Hedgehog (despite the fact that it was produced by DIC). This cartoony version was more faithful to the video games than the serious action version that aired on ABC. That version was boring, and had little if anything to do with the classic video games.
Some co-stars included Tails, Robotnik, Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts. A lot of the situations these guys got into were very funny. I laughed at the moments when Sonic addressed Robotnik as RoBUTTnik. I also liked some of the endings, when Sonic and Tails defeated Robotnik, he often screamed, "I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG!" That was very funny.
Based from the Sonic games I'm familiar with, this series seems like an adaption from Sonic 2, which even has the characters that existed the time the game was presented. The show developers even went as far as getting a partial soundtrack similar to Sonic 2 just for this show.
As I pointed out before, this was produced by DIC, which is notorious for producing third-world TV shows based from existing products from video games, toys, and comic books (and also Japanese imports). This syndicated version of Sonic is one of the very few good cartoons from DIC, and the best of all Sonic TV shows made.

One really great 90's classic cartoon
Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the best TV shows of the 90's. It is quintissential 90's TV and is a fine example of what cartoons used to be like. The villains were great as was Sonic the 90's version of Bugs Bunny. This show is aimed at a particular audience of kids who grew up watching cartoons all the time and for that generation Sonic was ideal animation. There was also a tone of sadness underneath the shows exterior that one would have to find out by watching the series. Even so the show is full of hum our and is perfect for kids. Or at least it was. Weather or not today's kids will like the series is another matter but for this person who grew up watching this series Sonic is a awesome 90's show that deserves the same attention as the much loved games
Remembered This Series Greatly-Soon to be Revived
This is definitely a great cartoon, or at least from what I remember. This series, which I remember watching once on video tape and getting it, is the only one I really saw (aside from Sonic X, which is unfortunately anime) and why I'm talking here (this might also be how I first learned of Sonic the Hedgehog). It's pretty odd that people said that this cartoon was horrible, since only 4 or 5 of the total comments talked of dislikes to this. The animation, which I saw a little, really isn't that bad. Okay so it's not really up to par like most other American cartoons, but it's still really not "cheesy," as most people like to say (I wonder what that means as an adjective). Another thing is that some say that it seems to be a Looney Toons spoof, but to me, it looks more like a mixture of Garfield/Pink Panther/Care Bears/Spy vs. Spy (by Antonio Prohias) theme.
While not as serious as the Saturday version (Sonic the Hedgehog "SATAM") or even the one from France/America (Sonic Underground), it still seems to be even better than something violent, vulgar, and tasteless nowadays (and they say anime has better animation). This appears to be a comic series with a whole bunch of laughs like in Garfield and Pink Panther episodes. There's even safety segments called "Sonic Says," similar to the "Garfield Quickies" with some excellent advice on how to be safe and good.
While I've really only seen this series, I'd recommend any Sonic animation title you can find (Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, or AoStH; SATAM Sonic, and Sonic Underground.) But I'm doubtful with Sonic "OVA/movie" as well as Sonic X, since their animes, which are cartoons to watch out for, mind you. But if you can find this series especially go ahead and get it. Even if the story lines and animation aren't up to par, it still has side-splitting humor that's just as good as the said cartoons above!

Not as bad as I had heard it to be, in fact I consider it a guilty pleasure
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is not as good as the brilliant Sonic the Hedgehog SATM series, but it is better than Sonic Underground(don't hate it but it does have a lot of glaring problems) and Sonic X which is not that good at all and suffers from too much Chris and not enough Sonic.
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog does have its flaws. I admit I am not a huge fan of the animation. The character designs and colours are not so bad, it's more the background art which have a tendency to be cheap and lacking in finesse. I like the opening sequence and theme tune, but some of the accompanying is annoyingly synthesised, I don't always have a problem with synthesised music but sometimes it can feel tacky, which was my problem here. Also Dr RobotNik is a decent enough villain here, but he is a pale shadow really of the true bad-ass that is the RobotNik of the SATM series. I like the I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG exclamations though.
Faults aside, in a way I do consider this series a sort of guilty pleasure. The story lines are not really original and lacking in substance, but they are adventurous, well-paced and entertaining. The writing is also not so bad, it is often very amusing and makes me forget it is not that sophisticated, likewise with some of the slapstick. Sonic is a zany and endearing protagonist too with his encounters with RobotNik one of the better parts of the episodes and Tails is a hoot, while the voice acting is strong particularly from a spirited Jaleel White.
All in all, a guilty pleasure. 7/10 Bethany Cox

AoSTH... a pastime favorite...
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, was a cool cartoon. The darker Sonic the Hedgehog series that ran on ABC from 1993-1995 was excellent. AoSTH is nothing compared to it, but nevertheless, it's still a good show. The cartoony styles in it make it look sort've like a mixture of Warner Bros cartoons, and a lesson learning session from Captin... I forgot the name. Who cares about the bad animation. It made it easier for the people to draw and stuff. If you wanna advance your knowledge on SegaSonic, you'd probably want to see this. Of course, you could check out the SatAM, but not that horrible show Sonic Underground. Listen that show reeks, and nothing's going to change that. There were a couple of good episodes, but clearly, that wasn't enough.
So, if you want to see a better cartoon, see this or SatAM.
PS: BRING BACK SATAM! BRING BACK SATAM! BRING BACK SATAM! BRING BACK SATAM!

- AnecdotesDIC Entertainment planned a second season for Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog but the second season didn't come around due to the fact that DIC was busy working on the second season for Sonic le Hérisson (1993).
- Générique farfeluDuring the credits, we see a Wile E. Coyote-like segment where Dr. Robotnik is setting a trap where a large mechanical press is supposed to smash Sonic. But when Robotnik pushes the remote control button, the trap doesn't do anything. He walks under the press to see what happened, and Sonic takes the controller, presses the button and smashes Robotnik. The press rises, and Sonic tosses the remote control under the press before running off. A flattened Robotnik gently falls from the press onto the controller and ends up smashed again.
