Sy Parrish is a dedicated photo developer whom works in a superstore whom develops photos for his favorite costumers Will Yorkin, his wife Nina and their young son Jake. Although the Yorkin family don't know Sy all that well and they think he is just a harmless, ordinary man. But, what they don't know is that Sy is a deeply disturbed individual whom has no family and lives alone and that he has been secretly stalking The Yorkins and keeping copies of their photos for himself as Sy sees The Yorkins as the perfect family he never had. However, after his arrogant boss Bill fires him for giving Jake a disposable camera as a birthday gift, taking 90 minute lunch breaks and for getting in an heated argument with the developing machine repairman and accuses Sy of stealing copies of The Yorkin's photos. Sy snaps when he learns that The Yorkins aren't the perfect family he believed they were and that Will doesn't spend any time with Nina and Jake and he discovers Will is being unfaithful to Nina and is having a sexual affair with his mistress Nina Burson. Angered, Sy goes vigilante and tracks Will and Maya down to a hotel and he sets out to confront them. But, two police detectives Van Der Zee and Outerbridge are following Sy's trail when Sy makes a threat against Bill and they break into Sy's apartment and find the copies of The Yorkin's photos and they learn Will's life is in danger and they set out to find and stop Sy whom is armed with a knife and Sy decides to give Will and Maya a dose of their own medicine.

Bill had a family picture of himself, his wife and his daughter prominently displayed in his office. Yoshi had most likely been inside Bill's office on several occasions and had seen the picture. So when Yoshi saw Sy's film he immediately recognized the girl in the photos as Bill's daughter.
