Bubble Gang

Bubble Gang to Philippine television is what Monty Python is to the rest of the world: a legendary comedy show loved by many; copied but never matched.

Bubble Gang was conceptualized ten years ago by comic genius Michael V and multi-talented Ogie Alcasid, who first collaborated with another gag show, namely 'Tropang Trumpo' on another channel. However, when the duo realized they needed growth in their comic careers, they decided to move on being actors in a show to being writers, conceptualizer and directors of a show. Hence, 'Bubble Gang' was born.

Memorable skits and performances include: 'Music English Version' and 'Music Tagalog Bersyon', Ogie's 'Manny Gosh', Muchas Grasas (about a family living in a dumpster), the condom series, the 'caught-in-bed-with-another' series, and much more.

Bubble Gang is currently enjoying their 10-year anniversary month, and fans could expect more of the same thing: funny-as-hell gags and jokes, and that's a good thing.

We all know that GMA produces highly recommended-for garbage disposal crap shows, but this one is great. Michael V is such a great performer. He can handle any roles, from a toothless girl, to a cute little baby, to a supermodel, and even as a dog! Michael V has a versatile talent, and he is also every funny! On the other hand, the concept is very original. The commercial spoofs are very funny (specially they're spoof for Epiderm.....can't stop laughing!), the script writer is just very good, the actors are great, this show is really EXCELLENT! Bubble Gang is one of those classics in Philippine TV. This unbeatable show sure flies high! The special effects, though it is not great, it adds the fun in the scene! This show is highly recommended!

I guess "Bubble Gang" is the Philippine equivalent of America's "Saturday Night Live", although this shows on Friday night. Also, its episodes are shot earlier, not live. This show started on October 1995 until now. Thus, this is 20 years old, just like me!

Michael V., the show's captain, is the key reason why this show lives on. He's joined with creative and funny writers and the show's mainstay members Rufa Mae Quinto and Antonio Aquitania. Through the years, some members came and went. However, its heart, which is presenting the comedies of the Filipino people, is beating well.

Many Filipino comedy shows receive the ax for low ratings. I think "Bubble Gang" befriends the ax. Hahaha! Oh yeah!
