Sex at 24 Frames Per Second

This movie is scripted as if a documentary on sex in Hollywood movies over the years. Except the documentary bits are just brief excuses for showing sex scenes from past movies.

This really focuses specifically on Hollywood movies. With two exceptions it completely ignores the early nickelodeon reels, stag films, Nudie Cuties of the 50's & 60's, independent horror films on the 1960's, straight-to-video from 80's & 90's and the cable TV late night/Skinemax movies. In this world I guess they never existed.

This does cover a number of movies but often focuses more on particular actresses than the movies. Worse, they seem to tone down the narration as if they are afraid this movie would get an X or NC-17 rating itself. That meant not discussing some things very pertinent to the discussion.

There are much better movies, albeit more entertaining that show famous sex scenes from movies such as "Best of Sex & Violence" or "Famous T & A" as two examples.

For a documentory this was not a bad film. I liked the history it showed from then to now. The older movies were actually pretty bad at times. It kind of drug out though was the only problem I had. It also seemed to like one or two movies more than others (Unfaithful). All in all it was an okay watch if you are bored on a week night.

I watched this despite apprehensions given that the production company is noted for its magazine photos of young women with breasts pumped full of silicon and imperfections airbrushed away. However, the film was reasonably good as far as it went, with the main problem being that it couldn't really do much justice to the subject in 101 minutes. But it was a good attempt at documenting the most famous feature films that have screened in cinemas noted for their erotic scenes. Some actresses feature rather disproportionately, Rachel Welch and Elizabeth Taylor particularly, while others meriting some attention received little or none.
