Life Begins

Watching this in 2025 on netflix and it holds up so well. Why? Because it's rooted in rawness and captures the human essence and spirit so well. Every situation feels all so real like a glance through a window at a family home.

The characters are all so well casted and fulfil there parts perfectly. Never once in this show did I ever say or think they something should be done different. It all goes perfectly and has it's place

Now I have finished this I am sad. I wish it lasted longer...

Saw this recently on Netflix.

These characters all come off as sociopaths and I literally hate them all..haha. When the husband said he was leaving in the first episode, I could completely understand why! Then he began to reveal himself as bad as his wife and kids.

The kids and adult "children" still living at home are AWFUL and entitled. Are they intended to be this way??

Seriously, are we supposed to have any sympathy for any of them? The dialogue itself isn't bad, it's the character development.

Also, maybe a style niggle, but Maggie doesn't look like she's in her 30s (more like 50s) or in the shape to be a hot item on that type of singles scene. None of them do.

A tender look at the realities of separation after years of quiet togetherness and seeing things in retrospective that were not apparent at the time.

Phil and Maggie are torn apart when Phil announces he needs time to find himself and moves out, leaving Maggie with two teenage kids, whispering neighbors, an accusing mother and a broken sink. In the blink of an eye lives change and Maggie steps into a world she never dreamed she would be part of -- the single mother struggling to make ends meet.

I am not English and have never lived in Britian but I enjoy English contemporary drama. I find their shows fascinating. Another good one, check it out.
